Blasting and Painting

For over 25 years our company has been dedicated to offering blasting and painting services to Sydney and has been a part of many major projects servicing government agencies and private sectors alike.

Our team specialises in the blasting and painting of steel products/structures with experience in multiple industries such as but not limited to oil, gas, mining, marine, cranes, tanks, silos, water treatment, power stations. Our extensive fleet of equipment is owned, operated and maintained in house meaning less down time and quality assurance.

Abrasive blasting and painting is the most economical and effective method of corrosion protection on steel assets and greatly reduces down time. Depending on the project requirements our crew will determine what level of blast is required as outlined below.

SA 2 Thorough blast cleaning: Commercial finish 65% clean The surface shall be free from visible oil, dirt and grease, from poorly adhering mill scale, rust, paint coatings and foreign matter. Any residual contamination should be firmly adhering. SA 2.5 Very thorough blast cleaning: Near white metal 85% clean The surface shall be free from visible oil, dirt and grease, from poorly adhering mill scale, rust, paint coatings and foreign matter. The metal has a greyish colour. Any traces of contamination shall be visible only as slight stains in the form of spots or stripes. SA 3 Blast cleaning to pure metal: White metal 100% clean The surface shall be free from visible oil, dirt and grease, from poorly adhering mill scale, rust, paint coatings and foreign matter. The blasted surface must have a uniform metallic color.

Our unique blasting process can also cater to various surface profiles depending on specific job requirements. A typical surface preparation requirement for a 3 coat system application is a class 2.5 blast with an angular surface profile of 40-70 microns (um). In this scenario our choice of grit would generally be 30/60 mesh garnet. We keep stock of a variety of different abrasive media sizes and types so we are always stocked and ready to rock!

After blasting is performed a multi-coat paint system is applied typically starting with a zinc rich epoxy primer, followed by a sacrificial primer and finally a polyurethane topcoat. We use a range of paint suppliers depending on project specifications such as jotun, dulux, international, wattyl, carboline and many more. With the use of our state of the art Graco airless spray pumps our we are able to complete high build coating systems consisting of hundreds of microns of paint with ease! Our state of the art mobile units are able to complete blasting and painting projects anywhere in Australia meaning you can increase the life expectancy whilst reducing the downtime of your valuable steel assets. On site on time every time!
